Dealer Comments

Summary
The 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 represented the peak of Mopar’s muscle‑car swagger, combining aggressive styling with big‑block brute force. Designer Diran Yazejian added the new “loop” grille, scalloped doors, and bold “bumblebee” stripes to give it a fierce road presence, while high‑impact colors like Plum Crazy and Hemi Orange made it impossible to ignore. Under the hood, the legendary "440 Magnum" delivered 375 horsepower and 480 lb-ft. of torque, offering thrilling acceleration without the finicky temperament of the race-derived 426 Hemi. But Car Life magazine reported, “The Chargers were more than just dragstrip terrors. On the handling course, they slammed through turns like the disguised NASCAR racers they really are...”

This 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 was ordered from the factory in the most intimidating of colors: EV2 Hemi Orange. Charcoal and Black vinyl bucket seats, a Black vinyl roof, and the famed Black Bumble Bee tape stripe provided contrast, while the original 440 Magnum and three-speed automatic transmission propelled the rear wheels. It was ordered with radio delete, the Magnum delivering all the tunes its original owner needed. Destined for Santa Ana Dodge in Southern California, it was equipped with the required N95 Evaporator Emission Controls. To deal with the SoCal sun, it was also factory-equipped with air conditioning.
